AI
Anything that apparently emanates from my brain does. I do not use AI as part of my creative process.
Where assets from the public domain are not available, I may use AI to generate them. Think analog synthesizer waveshapes: there is nothing creative about how I am going to draw a triangle in a vector graphics program, so AI is fine there. Similarly if I am using a placeholder or temporary image, I wouldn’t be scandalized by AI-generated imagery for that (although as a reader I find the increasing amount of tell-tale AI blog post cover images extraneous and ugly).
I use AI tools for software engineering, and I am increasingly interested in agentic AI workflows. Writing code has been a mere formality for some time now, and the code is not less meaningful if it is generated rather than written. The skill of writing software largely comes down to the design of the software driven by tests and specifications so delegating as much of the implementation as possible is ideal.
